Time Flies

With just over a week left to our boy's first birthday I am faced with my first, of what I'm sure will be many, realization that "Time Flies". Much more so than ever before!

The good news is, fatherhood seems to be getting more and more fun as time passes. I am really enjoying the increased interactivity that has come with his age and can feel the little league and soccer games fast approaching. We just got back from a vacation with my wife's sister and her family of four. They are expecting their third child, first son in just over a month. It was a great vacation (minus the team USA elimination from the World Cup at the hands of Ghana) and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. My brother-in-law and I played golf at Rancho Santa Maria. We went into town the next day so he could take his girls to the Solstice Parade in Santa Barbara, about 30 minutes from where we were staying, and I could watch the game. My wife and her sister especially enjoyed sitting on the deck each evening, talking and enjoying the relative silence of the woods.

The boy is saying, what I think we can call his first words. It is "Dada", which I appreciate, but we are pretty sure he thinks that it means "Bye Bye" because he accompanies it with a wave. He started doing it when my wife would hold him as I would leave and say "Bye Bye Daddy" and get him to wave at me as I would leave. He is not walking yet, but is getting around well holding on to things and crawling like a champ. He walks very well holding someones hand and seems very close to being balanced enough to walk on his own.

I will, as in the past, endeavor to post more frequently in the future.
